New Milford Firefighter Remains In ICU

The 75-year-old man became unresponsive en route to a call at NVE Bank Wednesday night.

NEW MILFORD, NJ — The firefighter who suffered a heart attack while on a call Wednesday night remains in the intensive care unit at Hackensack University Medical Center.

The 75-year-old man suffered the heart attack and became unresponsive on his way to a call at NVE Bank, authorities said. Firefighters on board the truck he was on performed CPR and used a defibrillator on him, said police Chief Ross Rhein.

Hospital staff were able to regain a pulse and got the man breathing on his own, Rhein said. He is now stable and in the intensive care unit while further tests are run.
