New Milford Man Avoids Prison In Saddam Hussein Gun Case: Report
Restaurant owner fined $3,000 and avoids federal probation.

A New Milford man will not serve jail time for his role in a plan to sell illegally imported guns that belonged to Saddam Hussein’s relatives.
Carlos Quirola-Ordonez, 58, was fined $3,000 and was not placed on supervised release, the federal version of probation, Thursday in federal court. He had pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to transport stolen firearms, NorthJersey.com reported. He faced has much as five years in prison a $250,000 fine.
Quirola-Ordonez, an immigrant from Ecuador, is one of four men charged in December 2012 with conspiring to transport and sell the stolen firearms, the website reported. A Fort Lee man, Howard M. Blumental, 76, was fined $5,000 for his role in the plot and was also not sentenced to prison.

Miles Feinstein, Quirola-Ordonez’s lawyer, said his client no intent to violate the law and took responsibility for his actions immediately after authorities contacted him, the website reported.
Quirola-Ordonez owns Patsy’s restaurant in Fairview.
