New Teachers Meet the New Milford BOE

New members of the faculty and staff met with BOE trustees at their year-end meeting

A group of new teachers and staff members hired by the New Milford School District introduced themselves to the Board of Education at the June 27 year-end meeting.

“These are the next generation of teachers that I hope are going to be with us for many, many years to come,”said Superintendent Michael Polizzi. “Each one is incredibly smart, talented, creative and innovative.”

Some of the newly hired teachers addressed the school board.

Tiffany Gallagher, a new elementary school math teacher, said she felt New Milford is, “a fantastic place.”

“It is comfortable here, you are able to try new things, the staff is fantastic and I am really excited,” she said.

Gallagher told the board that she previously taught in Rockland County before she took time off to raise her children.

Michelle Harley, one of two new guidance counselors, said she would use her past experience working in colleges to assist students as they prepare.

“I’ll be able to provide an inside look at what is needed,” she said.

Greg Hawkins, a new math teacher in the high school told the board that he is, “very performance driven.”

“I like to raise standards and produce results,” he said.

School board trustee Peggy Saslow welcomed the new teachers and staff members.

“I invite all of you to become a part of the New Milford family, we are an exceptional family and I look forward to you being a part of it,” she said.

Polizzi said that the newly hired teachers and staff members offer a “really nice balance.”

“They complement the staff (and there is) tremendous potential to move things forward,” he said.
