Police Use Narcan To Save New Milford Overdose Victim: Authorities

Paramus police find man overdosing on a jitney bus on Route 4 East, police said.

Paramus police officers used Narcan to help a New Milford man who was overdosing on heroin Tuesday night, authorities said.

At about 7:22 p.m., Paramus police officers responded to an unconscious man who was suffering a heroin overdose in the back of a local jitney bus that was driving on Route 4 East near IKEA Drive, police said.

Officers Dan DeRienzo, David Betancourt, and Gregg Hooper arrived on the scene and administered Narcan to the 26-year-old New Milford man who was face down on the floor of the bus, police said.

There were five empty packets of heroin under the man, police said.

Officers administered the Narcan and began rescue breathing on the man until paramedics arrived, who transported the man to Hackensack University Medical Center, police said.
