Principal for the Day at DEO Middle School

DEO Student Patrick Westervelt won the honor by raising money for the fight against cancer as part of Relay for Life

Patrick Westervelt, a student at DEO Middle School, won the right to be "Principal of the Day" during a recent school day after raising money for New Milford's first ever Relay for Life Event.

Westervelt's homeroom, led by teacher Daisy Ramos, raised a total of $200 for Relay for Life and were honored with a pizza party for their efforts.

Westervelt sold $67 worth of  moons and suns which students were selling to raise money that went to the American Cancer Society.

Westervelt worked with Principal Whitney Perro doing walk-throughs of all the classes, monitoring the halls, sending e-mails, running a fire drill and enjoying a pizza lunch.
