Property Maintainance

As a strong advocate of our "Quality of Life " here in New Milford , I can no longer remain silent to Councilman Diego's rants concerning property maintainance . The position is a part time appointment without any benefits . $7,000 a year. There is a lot of misinformation about the position. There are no senior citizens hiding behind curtains because the grass isn't mowed or the bushes need trimming . The position is to protect our property values , protect our way of life . With the property taxes we pay we shouldn't have to close our eyes to the abandoned car in the yard next door or the self employed handyman who wants to bring the dump truck home every night . There are countless new residents moving into town every year . Many are unaware that you can't bring your oversized company truck home and park it in your driveway . As convenient as it may be. You are not permitted to open a repair shop in your garage, bring home your landscape trailer loaded with equipment , grass clippings and gasoline . Home grown residents know this and it rarely happens , but when it does are you supposed to confront your neighbor ? Certainly not , you have to live next door . How can you enjoy your summertime backyard activities if your neighbor is running a business out of his home and his day laborers gather next door every morning and evening. Imagine trying to sell your home and there is mini school bus parked in the driveway next door . 
Quality of life , we deserve it , we pay high taxes to live in a good , quiet and safe neighborhood and when we decide to retire and sell our homes we want to get our tax money back.
