Reports: Former New York Giant Harry Carson Not Running Against Garrett
Teaneck deputy mayor and Passaic County freeholder have announced plans to run.
Former New York Giant Harry Carson will not run for congress in the newly drawn 5th district, according to published reports Tuesday.
Carson told Bergen County Democratic Lou Stellato that his “heart was not in the run and he could not commit the time,” politickernj.com first reported.
The death of Carson’s brother might have contributed to the Hall of Famer’s decision, according to a report on northjersey.com.

Carson had been floated as a Democrat with name recognition who could have faced Republican Rep. Scott Garrett. Teaneck Deputy Mayor Adam Gussen and Passaic County Freeholder Terry Duffy have announced they plan to challenge to Garrett.
The Republican-leaning 5th congressional district was expanded into Bergen County to include a large majority of New Milford.
