Road work continued on the Charles Street drainage project Friday, forcing the closure of several nearby streets. River Road between Madison and Voorhis Avenue was closed Friday afternoon. Cars were detoured up Voorhis to Cedar Road, eventually turning onto Boulevard. A minor traffic incident occurred around 1 p.m. when an 18-wheeler following the detour snapped off a large low-lying tree limb as it attempted to head out of Cedar Road onto Boulevard. Police were called to the scene but other motorists assisted the truck driver in removing the limb from the roadway prior to their arrival. Portions of Charles Street and Myrtle Avenue were also closed to traffic.
