School Elections Wednesday in the Borough
Voters will head to the polls between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. to vote on the 2011-12 school budget and candidates for the school board

Voters will have their chance to decide on the New Milford School District's proposed 2011-12 budget today as well as elect trustees to the Board of Education.
Last year, voters defeated the school budget by a margin of 27 votes. The district has been aggressive in promoting this year's budget, holding a special budget presentation for the district's parent-teacher organizations as well as the first annual district open house earlier this month.
Business Administrator Michael Sawicz gave a breakdown of the facts and figures in the proposed budget at the March 29 budget hearing.

There are three, three-year terms open on the BOE. Florence "Peggy" Saslow and Daniel Conner, both incumbents, are running for three-year terms. BOE Trustee Theresa Lacey's death in September 2010 led to the appointment of John Bigger to fill a portion of her unexpired term through April 27. Bigger is running to complete the remaining two years on Lacey's term.
BOE President Dan Conner said the board was supporting write-in candidate Paige Ryan for the third open three-year term. If Ryan is elected, the BOE would then not be required to find an appointee for that position. Ryan did not return calls from Patch for comment.
