Thursday Morning Club Celebrates 120th Anniversary
The club celebrated Thursday, Feb 11 with more than 60 members gathered at the Madison Community House.
On Thursday, February 11, 2016 over sixty members of the Thursday Morning Club gathered at the Madison Community House and celebrated in fine fashion.
A luncheon prepared by the club’s catering committee was followed by a lecture as part of the Wise Wonderful Women series which featured Lisa Rochelle, owner of Sweet Grace Cake Designs in Haworth, NJ: “Escaping the Cube: From Finance to Frosting.” Following the presentation, members were treated to a beautifully designed and decorated cake by Ms. Rochelle with the Thursday Morning logo and “120 Years” embossed on the cake.
Since its inception in 1896, the club has provided innumerable services and support to area communities, organizations and individuals as well. Its motto is: ‘Ich Dien’ (I Serve) and the Club is dedicated to community improvements by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service.

In 1924, the Settlement House was constructed at 25 Cook Avenue and in 1957, it became known as the Madison Community House. Fifty-nine years later, the 260 members of the Thursday Morning Club continue to operate, maintain and support
This vital meeting place and the exceptional programs it provides, such as Madison Community House Nursery School, Before and After School Child Care Program (BASCC), Summer Camp, Girl Scouts, Wise Wonderful Women Luncheon and Lecture Series and the Bazar de Noel. The home of the Thursday Morning Club is used every day (even Christmas); in addition to the programs, over 50,000 people use it for meetings, classes, family gatherings and events.

The Thursday Morning Club is a not for profit social and philanthropic organization. It is a member of the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs and the General Federation of Women’s Clubs.
