2 New Providence Locals Arrested For DWI
New Providence reported making arrests for driving while intoxicated, possession of cocaine and marijuana and attempted burglary.

NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ — Two New Providence locals were among three to be arrested for driving while intoxicated, according to the police blotter.
On Nov. 10: Patrolman Christian Cely arrested John Currie, 20, of New Providence for driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated under age, possession of marijuana 50 grams or less and possession of paraphernalia. The arrest stemmed from a motor vehicle stop on Green Way. Currie was also issued multiple motor vehicle summonses, was processed and released pending a future court appearance.
On Nov. 11: Sergeant Andrew Diamond arrested Deivid Jimenez, 27, of New Providence for driving while intoxicated, possession of an open alcohol container in a motor vehicle, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, possession of cocaine and possession of paraphernalia. The arrest stemmed from a motor vehicle stop on South Street. During the same motor vehicle stop, Diamond also arrested Juanlucas Moreno, 25, of Maplewood for possession of cocaine, possession of an open alcohol container in a motor vehicle and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle. Both parties were processed and released pending future court appearances.

On Nov. 6: Patrolman Nicholas Guerriero arrested Taylor Hamilton, 23, of Berkeley Heights on an active probation violation warrant out of Morris County. The arrest stemmed from a motor vehicle stop on Mountain Avenue. Hamilton was turned over to the Morris County Sheriff’s Department.

On Nov. 7: Patrolman Joseph DiParisi arrested Carlos Campoverde-Martinez, 24, of Newark on an active warrant out of Totowa. The arrest stemmed from a motor vehicle stop on Mountain Avenue. Campoverde-Martinez posted bail and was released pending a future court appearance.
On Nov. 13: Sergeant Andrew Diamond arrested Lawrence Nichols, 55, of Boonton for attempted burglary, trespassing and theft of movable property. The arrest stemmed from a response to a report of a suspicious person at the McDonald’s. Nicholson was processed and released pending a future court appearance.
On Nov. 14:Sergeant Donald Sretenovic arrested James Ragsdale, 33, of Chatham on an active warrant out of Evesham. The arrest stemmed from an investigation into a borough ordinance violation at Oakwood Park. Ragsdale was released on his own recognizance by Evesham Police pending a future court appearance.
On Nov. 17:Patrolman David Rodriguez arrested Walik Albright, 28, of Jersey City for driving while intoxicated and possession of an open alcohol container in a motor vehicle. The arrest stemmed from a welfare check of a man slumped over the steering of a car on Springfield Avenue. Albright was processed and released pending a future court appearance.
On Nov. 23: Patrolman Nicholas Guerriero arrested Melanie Olschewski, 35, of Easton, Pennsylvania on an active warrant out of Passaic County. The arrest stemmed from a check on a suspicious vehicle in a business parking lot on Mountain Avenue. Olschewski was turned over to the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department.
On Nov. 26: Patrolman Christian Cely arrested Odom Detrich, 41, of Staten Island, New York on an outstanding warrant out of Weehawken. The arrest stemmed from a motor vehicle stop on Springfield Avenue. Odom was released on his own recognizance by Weehawken pending a future court appearance.
On Nov. 27: Patrolman Christian Cely arrested Brandon Burwell, 23, of Union for possession of marijuana over 50 grams. The arrest stemmed from a motor vehicle stop on Southgate Road. Burwell was processed and released pending a future court appearance.
