Berkeley Heights Teens Are Finalists In Statewide Song Contest
Lauren Gomez and Meg Smith, students of Governor Livingston High School, entered a drug prevention song contest.

BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ — Two teens from Governor Livingston High School are finalists in the statewide contest "Your Song! Your Voice! Shout Down Drugs."
Organized by the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey (PDFNJ), the competition had high school students produce original music with lyrics that contain peer-to-peer substance use prevention messages.
Lauren Gomez and Meg Smith submitted a song titled "Bad Decisions/Bad Conditions," which can be heard here.

"Making bad decisions it will put you in some bad conditions (...) Causing future pain and it stunts the growth, " are some of the lyrics.
In its 17th edition, this year's competition had 14 finalists from 7 different counties throughout the state.

“Today’s youth are going through some trying times right now, and hopefully these substance use prevention songs will inspire their peers with the messages they convey," said Angelo Valente, PDFNJ’s Executive Director.
Online voting is open until May 6 at midnight and the winners will be announced live on air on 95.9 WRAT, May 7 at 5:30 p.m
