Delayed Opening For New Providence, Berkeley Heights Schools

All New Providence, Berkeley Heights and Mountainside Schools will have a delayed opening on Monday due to the snow storm.

All New Providence Schools will have a delayed opening on Monday due to the declared state of emergency and snow storm, the district announced Sunday night.

New Providence

The district will reassess conditions in the morning. If it is necessary for the district to close, there will be a phone call distributed by 8 a.m.

The High School and Middle School delayed opening start time is 9:45 a.m. Salt Brook School and Allen W. Roberts School delayed opening start time is 10 a.m. All staff will report to their buildings no later than 9:30 a.m. on Monday.

The Kindergarten schedule will be 10 a.m. to noon for the a.m. classes and 1 to 3 p.m. for the p.m. classes.

The Pre-Kindergarten a.m. class will not meet on delayed opening days. The Pre-K p.m. class will meet at its regularly scheduled time.

All Union County Vocational Technical Schools busing will follow the latest Union County Vocational Technical Schools start time.

Berkeley Heights:

The district will reassess conditions in the morning and send a notification by 7 a.m. Monday.

Delayed times are:

  • Governor Livingston HS - 9:50
  • Columbus MS - 10:10
  • Elementary Schools - 10:25
  • Mary Kay McMillin ECC - pm preschool and pm kindergarten - 12:10 and Grade 1 - 10:45
  • No a.m. preschool or kindergarten

Mountainside

Governor Livingston students will also have a delayed opening. Buses for all students, including vocational students, will arrive two hours later than normal time. Any decision to close will be made by 7:45 a.m.

Kean University's main campus and Union County College also announced a delayed opening until noon on Monday due to inclement weather. (See Related: Kean University, UCC Have Delayed Openings Monday)

Gov. Phil Murphy declared a state of emergency for the winter storm on Sunday. All 21 counties are impacted by the storm with 5 to 8 inches expected to fall beginning Sunday afternoon and lasting until 7 a.m. on Monday. (See Related: NJ Gov. Phil Murphy Declares State Of Emergency For Snowstorm)
