SUMMIT – It’s that time of year again. Lace up your sneakers and start your training for the 12th Annual Our House Five Miler!
This fun-filled community event will be held on Sunday, May 1st, 2011. The 5 Mile Run and Two Mile walk will begin at the Village Green and run through the beautiful neighborhoods of Summit. The Five Miler will start at 1 p.m., followed by the Two Mile Walk at 1:15 p.m. To register for the race as an individual or a team please visit our race website at www.ourhouse5miler.org
The Our House Five Miler is sanctioned by the U.S. Track and Field Association, with Grand Prix points for national ranking and prizes for the top runners. The Summit Five Miler will attract over 500 runners and walkers.

Joe's American Bar and Grill and Papa-Razzi of Short Hills will provide post-race refreshments to participants. Runners and walkers will also receive a 100% recycled cotton tote bag filled with goodies, and a long sleeve t-shirt. Registration fee is $22; $20 for USTAF members, through April 26, after which date the registration will be $25.
This year will also mark the 8th annual Everyone's A Winner race for individuals with developmental disabilities. This free event is a chance for individuals with developmental disabilities to participate in a community-wide event -- a race where everyone is a winner. Each runner will receive a t-shirt, winner's medal, certificate and lunch donation from Chimney Rock Inn.

Volunteers are also needed. We are seeking adult and teen age volunteers for various shifts from 8:30-3:00 on race day. To make a donation or register for events on May 1st, visit ourhouse5miler.org or mail donations directly to Our House Foundation, Inc. 76 Floral Avenue, Murray Hill, NJ 07974.
Proceeds raised from the Our House 12th Annual Five Miler will support Our House, Inc. For 30 years Our House has provided a safe haven to those with developmental disabilities, not only in homes (90 residents) but in recreational services, and employment services where they help over 150 adults each year find ability-based jobs. Our House is in the process of opening its doors to a new handicap accessible group home in Somerset to help ease the backlog of approximately 8,000 who are waiting for placement. The new home will mean a place for six additional residents with developmental disabilities. Our House currently has 25 homes and apartments located in eleven towns in Morris, Union, Essex and Somerset counties.
