GLHS Interact Club Wins Jefferson Award for Service
The good works of Berkeley Heights high schoolers won statewide acknowledgment in a special ceremony at the Newark Museum.

The Interact Club of Governor Livingston High School was honored with a 2013 Jefferson Award for Service at the third annual New Jersey Youth Service Awards ceremony at the Newark Museum on June 1, according to a published report.
The club, the youth arm of the Rotary Club of Berkeley Heights, was one of two Garden State honorees for its Global Health and Wellness project, NJ.com reported.
The project involved the club's donations to global relief organizations including Operation Smile, which funds surgeries for children born with cleft palate, and water.org, which helps economically disadvantaged people around the world have access to clean water and sanitary conditions. The Interact Club also received acknowledgement for its community service volunteer efforts, for sponsoring an Ecuadoran child through the worldwide charily Homes for Hope and raises money for the Greater Newark Fund.
