Gov. Livingston Beats Parsippany 4-3 in Ice Hockey

The Gov. Livingston varsity ice hockey team broke into the win column with a 4-3 victory over Parsippany Friday night.

JP Blasch tallied the game-winning goal at the 7:15 mark of the third period, assisted by Corey Burns and Frank Servello.

Parsippany struck first in the contest when Nick Grinvalds scored to make it 1-0 at the 5:29 mark of the first period, but the Highlanders struck back with a vengeance in the second stanza.

It all began ninety seconds into the period when Frank Servello converted off a pass from Jake Niemala to even the score at 1-all.

Two minutes later, Andrew Bobcheck struck the net, assisted by Jonah Butler and Mark Ripley for a 2-1 GL lead.

With 5:34 left in the second, Nick Mastrandrea found Eric Bland, who punched home the shot to make it 3-1 at intermission.

Blasch made it 4-1 before Parsippany battled back on a pair of goals Denis Bliakhman and Dan Bellafiore.

Jonathan Labella was stellar in net, making 16 saves for the Highlanders, who will face Dayton on the 16th.

GL improves their mark to 1-2 on the season.
