Gov. Livingston Edges J.P. Stevens to Remain Unbeaten

Jankowski, Murphy fuel eighth victory; face Westfield this afternoon.

It may have been a non-conference game Monday, but when the Gov. Livingston girls' varsity soccer team took the field, it was all about keeping their unbeaten season alive.

And they did.

The Lady Highlanders, sparked by goals from co-captain Jessica Jankowski and Paige Murphy, edged Stevens 2-1 to kick off a new week and improve their season record to 8-0-1.

Jankowski earned her 9th goal of the season in the 19th minute, while Alyssa Giannone assisted on Murphy's tally in the 41st minute of action to make the score 2-0.

GL will have one of their biggest tests of the season when they travel to face 6-1 Westfield this afternoon at 4 p.m.
