Gov. Livingston Girls' Soccer Gains # 3 Seed in UCT

Lady Highlanders 10-1-1 on the season after win vs. Union Tuesday.

The Gov. Livingston girls' varsity soccer team improved to 10-1-1 on the season, beating Union by a final of 1-0.

Striker Jessica Jankowski scored off an assist from Paige Murphyin the second half to nail down the win. GK Casey Krause earned her seventh shutout in 12 games.

GL secured the #3 seed at the recent Union County Tournament seeding meeting.

The Lady Highlanders were seeded behind defending champion Scotch Plains and Westfield, who took the top seed.

Along with New Providence, the top four seeds get a bye into the quarterfinal round.

GL last won the crown in 2004, and have showed their toughness with a 2-2 tie against the Lady Raiders earlier this season.

Since the tournament began in 1981, Westfield has won the title an impressive 18 times, while SP-F has won five of the last six.

GL's first contest will be played on Oct. 15, with the quarters on the 19th, the semi's set for the 23rd and the championship match on Saturday October 29 at 7:30 at Kean University.
