Gov. Livingston Soccer Teams Remain Unbeaten

Girls' defeat Summit, boys' edge A.L.J.

The first two weeks of the fall high school soccer season have proven that both Gov. Livingston teams have what it takes to have great seasons.

The girls' team improved to 4-0 on the season with a 4-1 victory over Summit. Jenny Pires, Jenn French and Jessica Jankowski delivered first-half goals. Julia Stirpe added a second half goal for the Lady Highlanders.

Casey Krause picked up the victory in goal for GL.

Meanwhile, the boys' team, under longtime head coach Bruno Somma, took a hard fought 1-0 victory over visiting A.L.J. of Clark. The game was scoreless in the first half, but GL took advantage of a corner kick in the second half, when Jeremy Robbins served the winning-goal to Michael Barnundo which proved to be the difference.

The boys' team will head to Union Catholic on Tuesday for a 4 p.m. match, while the girls' play host to Bayonne, also at 4 p.m.
