Gov. Livingston, Summit Tie in Girls Soccer

State playoffs next for Lady Highlanders.

THE RECORDS: The game had a playoff feeling to it even though it was nothing more than a regular season meeting.

Gov. Livingston entered with a 12-3-1 record while Summit entered at 9-5-3

The Score: 2-2 tie

Gov Livingston controlled most of the first half coming close to scoring on a few occasions but it wasn’t until late in first half that Jenn French lead Jessica Jankowski on a one vs. one against the goalie that she was able to convert. 

In the second half, Summit mounted a constant attacked and took the lead mid-way through.  With approx 10 minutes left, Julia Stirpe found Jessica Jankowski down the right side, who then crossed the ball to Jenn French.  She beat one defender and the goalie to tie the game at 2-2.

Overtime provided scoring opportunities for each team but neither was able to convert.

WHAT'S NEXT:  Gov Livingston begins the 2011 NJSIAA Tournament on Monday, Oct 31 at at 2 p.m. against North Plainfield.
