How New Providence, Berkeley Heights Schools Rank For Bullying

NEW PROVIDENCE/BERKELEY HEIGHTS/MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ — Bullying, violence, and vandalism happen everywhere, even New Providence, Berkeley Heights and Mountainside.

The state Department of Education released its list of public schools with bullying and violent episodes for the 2016-17 school year.

New Providence Borough School District had 15 incidents, or 0.67 incidents per 100 students, of violence, vandalism, weapons, drug use, and bullying, according to the report.

Berkeley Heights Township School District had 37 incidents, or 1.93 incidents per 100 students, of violence, vandalism, weapons, drug use, and bullying, according to the report.

Mountainside Borough School District had 1 incidents, or 0.56 incidents per 100 students, of violence, vandalism, weapons, drug use, and bullying, according to the report.

Union County Vocational School had 2 incidents, or 0.96 incidents per 100 students, of violence, vandalism, weapons, drug use, and bullying, according to the report.

The figures, compiled annually from data received from school districts across the state, were recently released as part of the Department of Education's 2016-17 district performance reports.
