New ID For Residents With Disabilities To Use In Emergencies
Operation Blue Guardian will provide people with developmental disabilities with an ID they can use to communicate with First Responders.
NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ — A new identification card is being introduced to assist residents with developmental disabilities or other special needs in communicating with first responders in emergencies.
Operation Blue Guardian, as the initiative was called, is a joint effort by the New Providence Police Department, Fire Department, EMS Squad, and Mountain Valley Emergency Communications Center.
A lock-box can also be provided for First Responders to gain entrance to homes in emergency situations, in the event the resident can't open the door.
