New Providence Hair Salon Helps Local Teens
Hair Salon Body & Soul is hosting a workshop to teach teens the importance and how to build their confidence and self esteem.

NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ — The owner of a New Providence hair salon is reaching out to the area youth to help mentor them to become better individuals.
Heather Hoffman, owner of Hair Salon Body & Soul, is hosting New Providence Youth Life Skills Workshop. During the workshop, Hoffman and her staff will be teaching the teens of today the importance and how to build their confidence and self esteem while facing everyday life challenges.
Teens will get hands on treatments, one on one mentoring and group education during the workshops.

“We are going to be their mentors, listen to them and help them get past this awkward stage of life,” Hoffman said. “They are going to learn and love it all in one.”
Hoffman has been running her salon for more than 10 years and was inspired to give back to the community when she participated at the New Providence Middle School’s career day.

She braided one student’s hair and the girl began crying. She told Hoffman this was the most beautiful she has ever felt.
Hoffman wants to continue to make a positive impact of other teens and students in the are.
“Reaching out to people is more than just about beauty,” Hoffman said.
The first workshop will be held on Monday Oct. 10 from 1 to 3 p.m. and again on Monday, Nov. 7 from 6 to 8 p.m.
It is open to students in grades 7th through 12th.
Specifically students will learn the basics of professional presentation:
- Communication: Verbal/Nonverbal and Listening Skills
- Proper Introductions/First Impressions
- Written Interaction
- Etiquette/Manners
- Style for Success
- Interview Skills
- Positive Self Image/Esteem, Confidence
- Leadership
The workshop will be held at the New Providence Municipal Center, Room G-2.
Costs is $15 per session.
