New Providence To Unbury Time Capsule From The Former Hillview School

The 40 year old time capsule will be unburied on Oct. 8

The last time the Hillview School time capsule saw the light of day, disco was big, Laverne & Shirley had just premiered, and parents of current high schoolers were still in high school themselves. All that will change on Oct. 8, when the long buried time capsule will be dug up and opened for all to see.

During the nation's Bicentennial celebrations of 1976, Hillview students buried a time capsule on school grounds to create history of their own. Now, 40 years later, they're ready to open it up again.

Carol Moldan, the social studies teacher who organized the project in the 70s, will be in attendance. News of her participation was met warmly by former students on the event's Facebook page.

Hillview was sold by the township in the mid 1990s; a YMCA currently operates there.

All are welcome to join in the digging ceremony on Oct. 8 at 1:00 PM. Celebrations will take place afterwards at Coppola Ristorante and Pizzeria.
