Our House Hosts 27th Annual Achievement Awards

Local non-profit celebrates its community partners, staff, and individuals with disabilities who have made achievements this past year.

New Providence, NJ (September 15, 2017)—Our House, Inc., a non-profit organization providing services for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities will honor community members, partners and advocates at its 27th Annual Achievement Awards on September 28th at Mayfair Farms in West Orange. This year’s theme is “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” promising a magical experience for all.

Our House, Inc. has awarded the Township of Woodbridge as Program Advocate; Frost Valley YMCA as Community Partner; Overlook Family Medicine’s Dr. Stuart Green as Community Advocate; and MedShare as Community Champion. In addition, volunteers Janet and Hugo Barth will receive the prestigious Patricia Shillingburg Award.

The Patricia Shillingburg Award is given to those who have shown outstanding leadership and vision. This year Our House recognizes Janet and Hugo Barth, of New Providence, New Jersey, for their unending dedication, time and enthusiasm in supporting individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Janet and Hugo are on Our House Foundation’s Board of Directors and raise thousands of dollars for Our House each year through their annual luminary campaign and team at the Our House Our Run in Summit.

Our House honors the Township of Woodbridge, New Jersey, as its Program Advocate for being open, willing, and completely dedicated to working with the organization in opening a Hope Autism Solutions site in its community, which will happen by the end of 2017.

Frost Valley YMCA Camp in Claryville, New York, will receive the Community Partner Award for helping Our House provide meaningful respite opportunities for individuals with special needs through outdoor activities such as hiking, arts and crafts, archery, hayrides, zip-lining, rock climbing, the flying squirrel, candle-making, and making S'mores by the campfire.

Our House recognizes Dr. Stuart Green and Overlook Family Medicine of Summit, New Jersey, with the Community Advocate Award for their commitment to outstanding patient-centered care for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Our House is grateful to Dr. Green and Overlook Family Medicine for their high standard of care and continually striving to build a healthy body, mind and spirit for all.

Last but not least, Our House will honor MedShare, a non-profit humanitarian organization which directly delivers surplus medical supplies and equipment to communities in need around the world. MedShare has been an integral part of Our House, Inc.’s Hope Autism Solutions program in Basking Ridge. For the past three years, they have welcomed individuals to volunteer at their site.

Attended by more than 300, including the individuals served by Our House, their family and friends, and community members, the dinner and dance is a fundraising event of the Our House Foundation.
