[PHOTO] Salt Brook Students 'Get Buggy'

Salt Brook Elementary School second graders participated in “Get Buggy,” an in-school science field trip run by High Touch High Tech that transformed their classrooms into living laboratories. 

The students became entomologists for the morning as they learned about insects through interactive discussions and hands-on projects.  After studying the characteristics of insects, they had the opportunity to observe real ants, honeybees, dragonflies and grasshoppers.

The science of insects came to life as the students used eye scopes to view the world through the multi-faceted eyes of a dragonfly, made their own beehives and honeycomb and built spider webs. The program was organized through the Salt Brook PTA, which sponsors residencies in each grade designed to enhance the curriculum.
