Gov. Livingston Earns # 2 Seed in County Tournament Boys Soccer

Gov. Livingston earns bye into quarterfinals. Scotch Plains # 1.

The Gov. Livingston boys varsity soccer team earned the #2 seed in the 2011 Union County Boys' Varsity Soccer Tournament Thursday night.

The Highlanders own a mark of 9-0 after defeating Summit 2-0 yesterday. 

James Lynch scored the first goal off a nice give-and-go with Anthony Oliveria and then Oliveira scored the second goal off a feed from Jeramey Robbins. Jon Robbins had six saves in the win. GL also owns a big overtime win over Westfield.

The top four seeds are (1) Scotch Plains-Fanwood, (2) Gov. Livingston, (3) Union, and (4) Elizabeth.

Coaches were in attendance with each having the opportunity to rank their top 20. The votes were then tabulated to come up with the seedings.

The top four seeds will get a bye into the quarterfinal round.

Preliminary Round matchups will be played by Thursday Oct. 13 (seed in parentheses).

(18) Oratory at (7) Linden

(17) Roselle at (8) Dayton

(16) Roselle Park at (9) Summit

(15) Hillside at (10) Cranford

(14) Plainfield at (9) ALJ

(13) Brearley at (12) New Providence

The next round will be played on Saturday October 15.
