3 Oakland Teenagers Honored For Serving Others

The teenagers received the Wyckoff Family YMCA's Youth Character Award.

OAKLAND, N.J. — Three residents received the Wyckoff Family YMCA's Youth Character Award Sunday.

The award was given to the teenagers based on their commitment to community service and their "embodiment of the Y's cornerstone of character: Caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility."

The three teenagers are: Aideen Gannon, Emily Monaghan, and Gianna Trivisani.

Sixteen other teenagers from Bergen County also received the award.

Jeremy Silverman, a star swimmer at Ramapo High School, received the Terry Battaglia Above and Beyond Award for helping underprivileged children from Paterson to learn how to swim.
