Oakland Woman Who Fell On String Bean Sues ShopRite

She claims the store was negligent for allowing the string bean to fall to the floor without warning.

OAKLAND, N.J. — A Bergen County woman who claims she was seriously injured two years ago after slipping on a string bean that fell on ShopRite of Oakland's floor has sued the store.

Carol DiPasquale, an Oakland resident, "suddenly and without warning," slipped on a string bean and "violently fell" to the floor, NJ.com reported.

DiPasquale, 55, claims she suffered "severe and permanent injuries" as a result of the fall and "will continue to suffer great pain and torment," the report stated. She also claims the store was negligent by allowing string beans to remain on the floor.

Karen O'Shea, a spokesperson for Wakefern Food Corp. of Newark, the store's parent company, said the company does not comment on pending litigation.
