NEW JERSEY - A New Jersey college student drowned Friday at a state park in South Jersey after possibly getting swept up by a rip current, a New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection spokesperson told Patch.

The victim, identified as 21-year-old Vineland resident Nathaniel Figueroa, was given CPR by members of the Ocean City Beach Patrol at Corson’s Inlet State Park in Ocean City, the spokesman said. Figueroa was transported to Shore Memorial Hospital in Somers Point where he later died.
