$25K Grant Awarded To South Jersey Animal Sanctuary's Founder
Funny Farm Rescue's founder Laurie Zeleski is the recipient of the von Liebig Prize for 2024, which honors people who care for animals.

MAYS LANDING, NJ — The founder of a local animal sanctuary that has rescued more than 600 animals is the recipient of a $25,000 grant given to individuals who dedicate their lives to animal welfare.
Laurie Zeleski, founder of Funny Farm Rescue, was awarded the von Liebig Prize, given out annually by The William J. von Liebig Foundation.
"Throughout her career, Laurie has shown profound selflessness and an abiding passion for improving the lives of all animals, regardless of need and species, especially those without a safe, loving place to rest, get the medical attention they need, and ultimately live a thriving existence," the von Liebig Prize website reads.

In honor of Zaleski's mother, the farm will always be free for anyone to visit the animals regardless of economic status, according to the Funny Farm website.
The news of the award comes shortly before the farm is set to appear on "The Kelly Clarkson Show." That's set for Jan. 17.

"Thank you to Diena Seeger for nominating Laurie and to the wonderful foundation that protects and enriches the lives of animals as their mission," Funny Farm said in announcing the news.
