9/11 Ceremony/Concerts/Street Rod Rally: What's Happening In Ocean City This Weekend?
A look at the weekend's events in Ocean City.

Ocean City, NJ -- There are a number of activities taking place in Ocean City this weekend, the first since Labor Day and the unofficial end of summer.
Below are a few of the weekend options, according to Ocean City Public Relations Director Mark Soifer:
The 42nd annual Street Rod Rally on Saturday, Sept. 10, will feature colorful, modified cars from 1986 and older. They will be displayed on the Tabernacle Grounds, 6th and Asbury Avenue, 8 a.m.-noon. They will then proceed to the Boardwalk and park to 4 p.m. For more information, call 609-399-6111.

The First Ladies of Rock and Soul will turn the clock back to a time and place in music history that only comes around once. They will present an electrifying performance of Girl Groups of the 1960s on Saturday, Sept. 10, 8 p.m. at the Music Pier. Tickets are $25, available at ocnj.us/boxoffice; Music Pier Box Office; or by calling 609-525-9248 or 609-399-6111.
Ocean City’s 9/11 anniversary ceremony takes place on Sunday, Sept. 11, 6 p.m. in front of the Ocean City Fire Department at 550 Asbury Avenue.

Also that night, the Ocean City Pops presents Classic Broadway with Richard Troxell, 7:30 p.m. at the Music Pier. Ocean City’s favorite tenor sings the best songs of Classic Broadway. Tickets $25 at www.ocnj.us/boxoffice; Music Pier Box Office; 609-399-6111 or 609-525-9248.
Tickets will go on sale for the Author’s Luncheon, which takes place Oct. 6 at the Flanders Hotel, 11:30 a.m. The guest speaker will be best-selling author Adriana Trigiani.
Tickets can be purchased on Friday, Sept. 9, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Saturday, Sept. 10, 10 a.m. to noon at the atrium at the Ocean City Free Public Library, 17th and Simpson Avenue.
Cost per ticket is $35, with a limit 10 tickets per person. Payment is cash or checks made payable to FVOCFPL. Customers are asked to bring a self-addressed, stamped envelope for the mailing of tickets.
