Teen Sent To Attack 83-Year-Old Entering NJ Food Store, Police Say
A 15-year-old was charged with aggravated assault and three adults were charged with conspiracy in the attack and purse theft, police said.
SOMERS POINT, NJ — A 15-year-old boy and three adults were charged after an elderly woman was "brutally attacked" and had her purse stolen in front of the Somers Point Acme, police said.
According to authorities, the juvenile was sent to rob the woman by three adults.
On Oct. 3, an 83-year-old woman was approached from behind near the store's entrance by someone in a mask, assaulted and had her purse stolen, police previously said. She was treated for facial and upper body injuries but has since been released, according to police.

Now, Somers Point police announced that a 15-year-old boy from Egg Harbor Township was charged with robbery, aggravated assault and theft in connection with the attack.
Three adults were charged with conspiracy offenses as well, police said. Maria DeSantis, 60, of Woodbine, Charles Ogelsby Jr., 23, of Atlantic City and Emily Labaco, 22, also of Atlantic City were charged with the following:

- Conspiracy to commit robbery
- Conspiracy to commit aggravated assault
- Conspiracy to commit theft
- Use/employing a juvenile to commit a crime
- Receiving stolen property
Ogelsby was also charged with possession of a defaced firearm.
"The Somers Point Police Department worked diligently around the clock to identify and arrest all those involved in this crime," police said. Search warrants were also executed in Atlantic City and Egg Harbor Township, with the help of those respective police departments.
The three adults were taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility, while the teenager was lodged in Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center, police said.
