Body ID'd After Washing Up In North Wildwood On Jersey Shore Beach

​A body washed up on a Jersey Shore over the weekend, and authorities have ID'd the victim after showing a photo of his shorts.

A body washed up on a Jersey Shore over the weekend, according police. And authorities have identified the victim after showing a photo of his shorts.

The body that was recovered by North Wildwood Police on Sunday has been identified as 24-year-old Ismail Ahmed Abdelmonem Ismail.

The victim was identified through fingerprint analysis by a joint investigation involving federal, state and county agencies, police said.

Investigation revealed Ismail recently arrived in the United States from Egypt to work on the boardwalk. The State of New Jersey Southern Regional Medical Examiner's Office classified the manner of death of Ismail as an accidental drowning.

North Wildwood Police said the body washed up on the beach between 24th and 25th Avenues on Sunday at approximately 9 p.m. The body of the victim was described as a male having a medium/dark complexion, possibly Hispanic, and is believed to be in his early 20s.

The victim was also described approximately 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches and between 160 and 180 pounds. with short black hair, no tattoos and a 1-inch scar on his left shoulder. There were no obvious signs of trauma to the body when it was found.

The victim was also wearing maroon Polo cotton shorts with a drawstring when he was found, police said.

This incident is currently being investigated by the North Wildwood Police Department in cooperation with the New Jersey State Police and the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office.

North Wildwood Police contacted all Cape May County police departments in addition to the United States Coast Guard and New Jersey State Police Marine Unit for any missing persons matching the description. There were no obvious signs of trauma to the body when it was found.
