“Stone Harbor Beach Patrol wins county lifeguard title; Ocean City Beach Patrol second, Sea Isle City B. P. third in season-opening races” was the headline in the July 11, 2012 Ocean City Sentinel. The OCBP won two of the six events and scored points in the other four. Dylan Kosten and Matt Garbutt won the doubles rowing race, and Matt Rinck (pictured) won the rescue board race. Others lifeguards scoring points for the OCBP were: Lukas Filarski, Nolan Coyle, Dan Casey, Tony Mehalic and Ian Kosten.
The OCBP has won this tournament eight times since 2001.
The 30th annual Cape May County Lifeguard Championships will be held on Friday, July 5, 2013 at 6:00 p.m., on the Rambler Road beach in Wildwood Crest.
