OCEAN CITY, NJ — An off-duty Ocean City officer helped police catch a robbery suspect Sunday morning at Egg Harbor Township's home depot.
The unidentified officer witnessed a man assaulting a store employee and then shoplifting over $500 in store merchandise just before 10 a.m., police said. Stephen A. Krajci, 62, of Philadelphia, pepper-sprayed the store's loss prevention officer in the face before fleeing the scene, according to The Press of Atlantic City.
The Ocean City cop helped Egg Harbor Township officers catch the man after he fled to his vehicle. The off-duty officer provided a description of the vehicle and its license plate number, according to The Press. The same officer later found the vehicle and notified police, following the driver until township officers could stop him, The Press reported.
