Election 2016: Who Won Council Seats in Ocean City?

There were two contested elections in Ocean City on Tuesday.

Ocean City, NJ -- Karen Bergman and Robert Barr look to be the newest members of Ocean City Council.

Bergman defeated H. Lloyd Hayes III with just over 62 percent of the vote in Tuesday's non-partisan special election, according to unofficial results posted on the county website.

Bergman had a total of 1,302 votes, compared to Hayes's 786 votes. There were seven write-in votes, as 2,905 of Ocean City's registered 8,852 voters hit the polls for the special election.

Bergman captured the seat she was appointed to by council members last year, following the resignation of previous Council Vice President Michael Allegretto, who took a position as Director of Community Services with the city.

Barr looks to have taken the Fourth Ward seat currently occupied by Pete Guinosso. Barr won 39.18 percent of the vote in Tuesday's three-way race, according to unofficial results posted on the county website.

Barr won 344 votes, compared to 285 for Brenda Moiso and 249 for Bartholomew Russell.

Barr is the president of the Ocean City Democratic Club and the president of the Ocean City Community Association.

First Ward Councilman Michael DeVlieger, Second Ward Councilman Antwan McClellan and Third Ward Councilman Anthony Wilson all ran for re-election unopposed.

All results are pending the tabulation of provisional ballots.
