EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, NJ — Part of a human skull was discovered on a beach near Ocean City on the morning of Sept. 9, according to state police. A passerby found the bone on the beach at the foot of the Ocean Drive Bridge in Egg Harbor Township, according to Lieutenant Theodore Schafer.

State troopers and NJSP Homicide South Unit officers responded to the scene. They turned the bone over to the Southern Regional Medical Examiner Office. The office confirmed the bone came from a human, Schafer said.

Longport Dog Beach — a popular dog-friendly beach — is in the described area.
