Ocean City High School Wrestling Team Takes Third Place at Hammonton Duals: Sports Roundup
The girls basketball team has won five straight, and the boys basketball team dropped a three-point overtime decision to Pleasantville.

The Ocean City High School wrestling team picked up a third-place finish at Saturday’s Hammonton Duals with a 40-21 win over Winslow, according to nj.com.
The Red Raiders saw two pinfalls and a major decision in the victory over Winslow.
Mike Gardner pinned Rashad Gayle at 195, and heavyweight Grant Howell pinned Christian Wallace in two minutes, 33 seconds. Cameron Andres scored a 12-4 major decision victory over Tom McKelvey.

The Red Raiders were in the third-place match following a 31-30 loss to host Hammonton in the semifinals. Ocean City scored three pins and had four decision victories in the loss, while Hammonton had two pins, a major decision, three decisions and a forfeit. David Levin (126) and Andrew Morrill (182) each scored the pins for Ocean City.
Ocean City opened the tournament with a 40-22 win over Rancocas Valley. The Red Raiders had three pins and two major decisions in the win. Nick McCardell (113), Will Nickerson (170) and Kyle Strunk (220) all had pins, while David Laverty (138) and Andrew Morrill (182) had the major decision victories.

Gateway won the tournament with a 45-29 win over Hammonton in the finals.
Five in a Row for Red Raiders Girls: Since a one-point loss to Mainland to open the season, the Ocean City High School girls basketball team has reeled off five straight victories, most recently a 57-16 win over Bridgeton on Jan. 7, according to nj.com.
Nicole Piergross led the way in that win with 13 points, followed by Alexis Paone with 10. The Red Raiders jumped out to a 23-2 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.
Other victories over this span include a 42-26 win over Middle Township; a 53-4 win over OLMA; and a championship at the Boardwalk Classic in Wildwood.
Weekend Split for Boys Basketball: The Ocean City High School boys basketball team picked up a 71-54 win over Bridgeton on Jan. 7, then pushed Pleasantville to the limit in a 77-74 overtime loss on Saturday, according to nj.com. Ocean City had the lead, but Pleasantville came back to tie the game at 74-74 to force overtime.
