Ocean City Named Best Beach In The Northeast

OCEAN CITY, NJ — Readers of USA Today bestowed another accolade on Ocean City, voting America's Greatest Family Resort as the "Best Beach in the Northeast."

Ocean City has received many similar awards in the past - it recently was named one of the best places to live in Cape May County and last summer won its ninth straight year of being NJ's favorite beach in the Sea Grant Consortium's annual poll. The Ocean City Chamber of Commerce has compiled all of the island's awards here.

This contest was decided by online voters in a nationwide poll.

Ocean City beat out other New Jersey beaches including Belmar and Cape May, plus other iconic beaches like Rehoboth Beach in Delaware and Ocean City, Maryland

“It’s great to see Ocean City achieve this honor,” Mayor Jay Gillian said. “Ocean City has always been No. 1 in the hearts of so many of our residents and guests, and it’s a tradition for generations of families. I want to congratulate and thank the city team, our public safety departments, the Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Tourism Development Commission, the Boardwalk and Downtown Merchants associations, local businesses, all volunteer groups and the entire community in making Ocean City a wonderful place to live, work and play.”
