📰 News we're reading

1. Ocean City Council Shares Wonderland Update (patch.com) — Ocean City residents are hearing new details about safety concerns at 600 Boardwalk, where a partial wall collapse prompted an unsafe-structure notice and a required engineering report. At the same meeting, council leaders outlined ongoing negotiations over the former Wonderland site, promising no condos or alcohol sales and pledging a family-friendly plan shaped by public input.

2. Nor'easter takes a toll over long weekend ‣ Ocean City Sentinel (ocnjsentinel.com) — Ocean City residents just endured one of the highest tides in a decade as a powerful nor'easter flooded streets, briefly closed bridges, and tested the town's dunes and pumping stations. Officials say beach replenishment and new storm trucks limited damage, while cleanup, bulk drop‑offs at Shelter Road, and regular trash and recycling services are now underway for affected homeowners.

3. Polling places changed in Ocean City's Second Ward (ocnjdaily.com) — Ocean City Second Ward voters in Districts 1 and 5 will now cast ballots at the Ocean City Civic Center between Fifth and Sixth streets, instead of the 8th Street Recreation Center. All five Second Ward districts will use the Civic Center for the Nov. 3, 2026 general election and beyond, with key registration and mail-in ballot deadlines already set.

4. Demolition begins at former Seaspray condos in Ocean City (nbcphiladelphia.com) — Demolition of the long-troubled Seaspray condominium complex at Ocean City's 34th Street gateway is finally underway, making room for a new 43‑unit upscale project called The Drift at Salt Meadows. Neighbors and city officials say removing the eyesore will improve the main entrance into town, though former residents have mixed feelings after years of safety issues, evacuations, and legal battles.

5. Ocean City surfers come out winners at Sea.Hear.Now Fest ‣ Ocean City Sentinel (ocnjsentinel.com) — Ocean City surfers Mia Gallagher and Cruz Dinofa recently captured division wins at the Sea.Hear.Now Festival's North Beach Rumble in Asbury Park, showcasing the town's strong surf reputation.
