Planning Board Approves Manco and Manco's Move To Old Strand Movie Theater In Ocean City
The flagship pizzeria will move, but its other two locations will remain on 8th and 12th streets.

Ocean City, NJ -- The Ocean City Planning Board unanimously approved Manco and Manco’s proposal to move its flagship pizzeria from 9th Street to the old Strand Movie Theater on the Boardwalk during a special meeting Tuesday night, ocnjdaily.com reports.
The movie theater would be transformed into a pizzeria, with the second floor being leased to a retail store to be named, according to the report.
Only the 9th Street location will move. The shops on 8th and 12th streets will remain where they are.

Manco and Manco has been an Ocean City staple since 1956, when it opened its first location on 9th Street. By the mid-1980s, three locations had been opened in Ocean City.
During the meeting, the planning board and the pizzeria's owners referred to the move as continuing to keep an historic building as an Ocean City icon, according to the report.

Last year, owners Charles and Mary Bangle pleaded guilty to tax evasion charges. They are still awaiting sentencing.
