Results Are Official In Ocean City Municipal Elections

The certified results were released by the Ocean City Clerk's Office Friday morning.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — The official results are in for Tuesday night’s non-partisan Ocean City municipal elections.

Ocean City Mayor Jay Gillian won another four-year term with a total of 1,950 votes, according to the certified results released by the Ocean City Clerk’s Office Friday morning. Former councilman John Flood had 1,122 votes in the mayoral election.

Gillian collected more votes in each ward. In the First Ward, Gillian had 587 votes to Flood's 328. In the Second Ward, Gillian had 366 votes to Flood's 197. In the Third Ward, where Flood was a councilman from 1988 through 1996, Gillian won by a total of 503 to 267. In the Fourth Ward, Gillian had 494 votes, while Flood had 330 votes.

Council President Peter Madden, Councilman Keith Hartzell and Councilwoman Karen Bergman all ran for re-election unopposed. Hartzell finished with 2,342 votes, followed by Bergman with 2,274 and Madden with 2,252.

Hartzell had 695 votes in the First Ward, 452 votes in the Second Ward, 571 votes in the Third Ward and 624 votes in the Fourth Ward.

Bergman had 684 votes in the First Ward, 443 votes in the Second Ward, 560 votes in the Third Ward and 587 votes in the Fourth Ward.

Madden had 685 votes in the First Ward, 426 in the Second Ward, 548 votes in the Third Ward and 593 votes in the Fourth Ward.
