Seagull's Wing Broken By Baseball In Jersey Shore Town: Officials

Shore Animal Control said the seagull's wing was broken by a kid throwing a baseball at it in Avalon.

AVALON, NJ — A seagull with a broken wing is being taken care of by animal control after a child threw a baseball at it, according to officials.

Seaville-based Shore Animal Control said they picked up the bird Sunday evening after it was injured in front of the Icona Hotel in Avalon. A photo of the injured bird accompanied the post.

Shore Animal Control asks that anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them and Avalon police immediately.

Seagulls are federally protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918. This makes it illegal to harm seagulls.
