Summer Guide: Where to Buy Beach Tags in Ocean City
Discounted seasonal beach badges are on sale for $20 until May 31. On June 1, the price increases to $25.

Seasonal beach tags for summer 2011 will be on sale for a discounted $20 for another week. The price increases to $25 starting on Wednesday, June 1.
Seasonal beach tags ($20 until May 31) are on sale:
- On the city website (although there is a $5 mailing fee for the entire order).
- At City Hall (861 Asbury Ave.), 9 a.m.-4 p.m daily.
- At the Roy Gillian Welcome Center (16 E. 9th St.), 9 a.m.-4 p.m Monday to Friday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
- At the Henry S. Knight Building (115 12th St.), 9 a.m.-4 p.m Monday to Friday.
- At the Ocean City Aquatic & Fitness Center (17th and Simpson), 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday to Friday; 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday; 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday.
- At the Ocean City Music Pier (Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace), 10 a.m.-4 p.m. daily.
Beach tags are required for everybody ages 12 and older on all Ocean City beaches June 11 through September 5.

The price of the seasonal tags was increased by $5 in a vote by City Council in February. The costs of daily beach tags ($5) and weekly beach tags ($10) remain unchanged.
Ocean City sold $3,428,000 worth of beach tags in 2010 but spent $3,963,000 to maintain the beaches. The fee increase helps close the gap that is currently being paid by Ocean City taxpayers.

Ocean City, like most towns on the New Jersey shore, charges a fee for people to use the beaches in the summer. During the summer, beach tags are also available for purchase from the inspectors who monitor the beaches.
