Thunderstorms On Christmas Eve: Noisy Wind, Rain Storm To Impact New Jersey, PA

The National Weather Service issued a "Hazardous Weather Outlook" for all of New Jersey, advising holiday travelers to stay safe.

Looks like some loud noises from the sky could be drowning out Christmas caroling this year.

A strong rainfall that could accompany Christmas Eve thunderstorms will impact all of New Jersey and parts of Pennsylvania, potentially ruining holiday travel plans for millions of drivers.

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the entire state of New Jersey, saying a strong low-pressure system will bring heavy rain and gusty winds on Christmas Eve.

The entire state of New Jersey has a 90 percent chance of rain, with possible thunderstorms, on Christmas Eve, according to The Weather Channel.

Winds will be up to 20 miles mph in North and Central Jersey, and up to 30 mph in Ocean City and other parts of the Jersey Shore, according to The Weather Channel. Rainfall should be about half an inch.

WeatherWorks meteorologist Sam DeAlba said a “potent storm” could bring heavy rain and wind on Christmas Eve, but he doesn’t believe snow will impact New Jersey on that day.

“It’s going to be very windy for travelers during the day,” he said, noting the wind gusts could be 30 to 40 mph.

According to the National Weather Service, a light wintry mix is possible Monday afternoon into early Tuesday in the Northeast, followed by rain on Tuesday and Wednesday.
