Bergen Prosecutor Hosting Heroin, Opioid Summit Friday
School and law enforcement officials and doctors will speak about the efforts they are spearheading to stop heroin and opioid overdoses.

PARAMUS, NJ — An update on the efforts that local law enforcement and school officials, together with doctors, are undertaking to stop heroin and opioid overdoses in Bergen County will be discussed at a special summit Friday.
The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office has a social media initiative called #StopTheODs. The prosecutor's office also sponsors Operation Helping Hand and has a Heroin Addiction Recovery Team ready to help users get the help we need.
Norah Peck, the executive Bergen County superintendent of schools will moderate a discussion on prevention.

Paramus Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg, and other municipal police chiefs, will moderate a discussion about how they enforce drug use laws.
Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal will discuss treatment.

Dr. Mark Rosenberg, chairman of emergency services at St. Joseph's Healthcare System will discuss the hospital's Alternatives to Opioids Program. It is an acute pain management program that helps patients experiencing pain by not giving them opioids.
The summit will be at the Bergen County Plaza from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
