County and local police treat children with life-threatening illnesses or chronic health conditions to special day with dignitaries.

The Paramus Police Department held their "Chief for a Day Celebration" sponsored by the Bergen County Sheriffs Office on June 1.

The initiative partners local chiefs with children who have been diagnosed with life threatening illnesses or chronic health conditions.

Paramus resident TJ Franson was selected be "Chief for a Day", while his sister, Kayla Franson, was made "Deputy Chief for a Day".

"We picked TJ and Kayla up at their residence in the morning, visited with their classmates at their school, they were sworn in to their positions by the Mayor, toured the Police Department and conducted business in their respective offices," said Det. Sgt. John Devine.

After visiting the Bergen County Justice Center, the children were treated to a luncheon at The Landmark.
