Council Picks New Golf Course Head

Andrew Schuckers will be manager and superintendent of the Paramus Golf Course.

The Council appointed a new boss for the at their Tuesday work session.

Andrew Schuckers, currently the superintendent at Meadows Golf Club at Lincoln Park, will be the manager and superintendent of the municipal links starting Aug. 1.

"I look forward to working with all the employees there," Schuckers said.

Schuckers said he's always loved the Paramus Golf Course, and was immediately drawn to the opening. by the course's supporters at a forum on golf course management piqued his interest even more.

Schuckers has been a superintendent for 25 years at numerous facilities, including the Darlington Golf Course in Mahwah.

A hiring committee formed to replace former superintendent Ken Krausz and former manager Gary Pucci received 21 applications and interviewed five candidates.

The Borough will see a savings by combining the superintendent and manager positions, said Councilman Michael Rohdieck, liaison to the Golf Commission. Krausz, who retired effective July 1, was making $140,000, while Pucci, who was , was making $70,000.

Schuckers will earn a $93,600 salary.

"It should be a little less expensive," Rohdieck said.

In the interim between Krausz's retirement and Schuckers' Aug. 1 start date, the course is being run by the Golf Course foreman and cashier, with oversight from Shade Tree Director Joseph Sexton.
