Eagle Scout Candidate Will Beautify Park With Borough
When Eagle Scout candidate Leon Schneider asked the mayor and council permission to improve the entrance to Constitution Grove Park, he learned the Borough already had plans in the works.
In order to become an Eagle Scout, an Eagle Scout candidate is required to plan, develop, and carry out a leadership service project.
During the mayor and council meeting Tuesday, Paramus teen Leon Schneider expressed his interest in beautifying the Constitution Grove Park entrance to "earn his wings".
"I am reconstructing Constitution Grove," said Schneider. "Do you know where that is? Its 30 years old. The entrance to it shows its age."

Schneider said the park sign is weathered and overgrown with vegetation.
"I haven't finished the entire plan yet, but when I do, I'll present it at the next mayor and council meeting," Schneider said.

The Midland Avenue entrance to Constitution Grove Park leads to a walkway system that winds through native woodlands. The path stretches to Memorial School.
Monuments dedicated to the Paramus Rescue Squad and the Rotary Club are installed along the paths.
Mayor Richard LaBarbiera informed Schneider that the Borough had a similar project in the works for the Constitution Grove Park area.
"Perhaps we can coordinate our efforts, and if there are items that should be addressed that you're not able to, perhaps we can address them as part of our project," said LaBarbiera.
The Borough is planning improvements to the intersection of Midland Avenue and Farview Avenue to install a new community board, lighting and a possibly new sign.
"Perhaps we can concert our efforts and together make it even better," LaBarbiera said, as he invited Schneider to attend a future meeting.
